This is the #1 reason why I never get into speculation discussions about any game I’m excited about. Everyone complains because “but it’s not perfect.”

Right now people are complaining that the AR integration is gimmicky. But the Connections were released when the big gimmick in kids toys was... infared connection. Like, I’m sorry that you’re no longer little kids and you all can actively see when your favorite toys are jumping on fads now, but that’s marketing. If you don’t keep up with what’s popular, your toys are going to sit on the shelf and collect dust.

Hold all the buttons for a few seconds and you’ll get a new egg.

Hey, on the plus side, Tamagotchi Video Adventures is one of the most nostalgic things I have ever seen, and the game is for almost all intents and purposes an extension of that cartoon. I’ll take as much content of this short-lived localization as I can get. I LOVE these versions of the characters... absolutely delightful.

Well you're in luck because I woke up this morning to find NYOROTCHI, who is one of my favorites.

You may not have done anything wrong at all. They all die/run away after hitting a certain age. The game ends earlier with poor care Tamagotchi than with good care Tamagotchi, but there's no way to make even the best end result live forever.

Same sex marriage is indeed still illegal in Japan. More importantly, if your Tamagotchi were the same sex they wouldn’t be able to make a baby, which is literally the only reason the marriage mechanic exists... Nothing in the game says your tamagotchi has to be cisgender though, so you might want to play with that idea instead of modding the game.

I did a bit of comparing for the cartoon and game, and found out Ron Wasserman (writer of famous theme songs Go Go Power Rangers and Rock the Dragon, among others) did the music for both. He's not credited for it on IMDB or on his Wikipedia page, but he's listed in huge letters in the title sequence as the composer for the cartoon.

@Tamagotchicornershop I don't think the original canon was solid either. Was looking at vintage tama stuff and found an image where Oyajitchi is about two and a half feet tall (shown with a bottle of booze next to a rather frustrated looking human woman). If it's official (and it looks official) it completely contradicts the original story that says that they really are as tiny as they appear on screen, and that the "Tamagotch" device is like an entire house for them. Not to mention there's a totally separate but more-stable US canon that appears in one cartoon short, one PC game, and Happy Meal bags -- but still takes heavy influence from the JP version (such as Nyorotchi's big appetite, Tarakotchi's smelly feet, and Mametchi's genius IQ).

I don't think there's meant to be a cohesive canon throughout the franchise, especially because all the "kids" in the anime are (weirdly) modeled after adult and teen Tamagotchi rather than the actual child Tamagotchi characters. Like, I don't think Mametchi in the anime is even close to being old enough to be a dad, he's like eight. But in all the games he's a fully grown-up Tamagotchi... man?
