"Tone Deaf" Mametchi and "Sing by Ear" Fortetchi is the 121st episode of the Tamagotchi! anime.
Synopsis[]
The Tama Friends visit the nursery school in Melody Land and encounter Fortetchi, who hates singing. Mametchi invites him to join the chorus, but Fortetchi thinks Mametchi is deaf. Determined to convey the joy of singing to him, Mametchi decides to give special training himself.
Plot[]
At Melodytchi's house, the Tama-friends have breakfast while Melodytchi announces that she and Lovelitchi have been invited to perform a song at Melody Land Castle. Later on, the two perform Happy Happy Harmony for the children at Melody School. Everyone is listening except for a child Tamagotchi sitting off to the side looking bored.
After they finish, Mametchi suggests that he leads the children in singing to the Tama-friend's shock. Himespetchi and Kizunatchi are enthusiastic until Memetchi quietly tells them that Mametchi can't sing. They try to dissuade Mametchi, but the school children are too excited to sing with him. The child Tamagotchi from before leaves before Mametchi starts and the Kindergarten Teacher introduces them as Fortetchi. When the Tama-friends try to convince Fortetchi to stay, he questions why since they said Mametchi can't sing at all earlier. The friends try to pretend they didn't say that, but Mametchi becomes upset upon hearing this.
He sings Happy Happy Harmony out loud which causes everyone to fall to the ground from how bad it sounds. Kizunatchi gets up and tells Mametchi that he should try to learn how to sing better and he seems to agree with this advice, running off to go practice by himself. The friends return to Melodytchi's house and seem worried about Mametchi being by himself. Everyone excepts Melodytchi decides to go look for him, while Melody opts to stay home to spend time with her parents.
At a river, Mametchi practices singing Happy Heart. Fortetchi sees him and decides to go talk to him. Mametchi explains what he's doing and Fortetchi says that he's not good at singing either, but is trying to read up on how to sing better. Fortetchi then sits on nearby steps and reads a book while wearing headphones to block out Mametchi's singing. The Tama-friends eventually find Mametchi and watch him practice while wondering why Fortetchi is with him. Fortetchi yells at Mametchi to practice quieter, but is still annoyed about his singing technique so he tells him how to sing in rhythm with the song. He then leaves as Mametchi thanks him for the advice.
In the next scene, Lovelitchi visits Melody School to ask about Fortetchi. The Kindergarten Teacher explains that Fortetchi is actually not that bad at singing, but he's not very confident about his abilities. Fortetchi also has a hard time making friends due to being blunt in their opinions and not being able to connect with them by singing. Lovelitchi returns to Mametchi and tells him this information, giving Mametchi an idea of how to reach out to Fortetchi. Meanwhile, Melodytchi is eating Sachertorte cake with her parents. She look down and her parents cheer her up, saying that she'll do great in her performance later and that they're proud of her.
Mametchi finds Fortetchi at a playground and starts singing again, causing Fortetchi to come down and say his singing still needs work. Mametchi is dismayed, but Fortetchi continues and says his persistence to keep trying gives him confidence to sing with others. The Tama-friends are happy to see Fortetchi opening up and the Note Tama Heart appears next to him. Lovelitchi collects it in her Tama Profy and Melodytchi suddenly appears at playground, playing the first few notes of Happy Happy Harmony. She invites everyone to sing and they all join in to sing the song.
At night, Melodytchi and Lovelitchi perform Smile for Tomorrow at Melody Castle. As they play the song, scenes from their time in Melody Land are played. Joou Sama is moved to tears and thanks the two for performing the song, happy to see the Melody Violin being used to perform wonderful music.
