Teletchi hatching out of the Tamagotchi Connection egg
Eggs, specifically called Tamagotchi Eggs, are vessels of life in which all the Tamagotchi were born from. Eggs are made after two compatible Tamagotchi mate.
Biology[]
The Tamagotchi egg is a small circular object, larger than a chicken egg, but still small enough to fit in a human hand. Its structure is very smooth and solid and they also come in a variety of patterns and colors.
Inside the egg is a developing Tamagotchi embryo. It settles inside the shell where it stays warm and protected. Once the embryo is fully developed, it hatches into a young baby Tamagotchi. An egg usually hatches within a few days of being laid. Eggs are very fragile, but it is unknown what happens if the contents gets compromised after the shell shatters.
On Virtual Pets[]
The Egg Stage (卵期 ranki) is the first stage in a Tamagotchi's Life Cycle. Nearly every Tamagotchi release begins with the egg stage. In order for the egg (タマゴ tamago) to hatch, the user must first set the time. On modern releases, they may additionally have to set the date, the user's birthday, and username. After a period of time (five minutes on earlier releases, though the time has been reduced to a minute on modern Tamagotchi pets), the egg will hatch into the baby stage character.
In the Anime[]
The Tamagotchi eggs exist in the anime series, but are rarely featured. The Tamagotchi normally treat it like a regular baby. Unlike the virtual pets, Tamagotchi eggs and the baby inside glow brightly while hatching. The shell cracks, and then explodes.
Tamagotchi: The Movie[]
Chamametchi's egg is featured in the first half of the movie, being taken care of Mametchi's family. A mishap causes the egg to bounce to the top of a tower and Mametchi and Tanpopo chase after it to save it. Later on, the egg hatches into Chamametchi.
Tamagotchi![]
A curse known as Eggification is shown in the last season of Tamagotchi!. Due to the disappearance of Tama Hearts from Tamagotchi Planet, many Tamagotchi begin to gradually turn into barely sentient eggs. Mametchi and friends work to cure everyone of the curse as once the curse affects the planet itself, it will turn into an egg and then shrink into the size of one, crushing all inhabitants.
GO-GO Tamagotchi![]
Lovesolatchi is shown as an egg in the beginning of the series and later hatches.
