GOGO! Tama Tama Tamagotchi (GOGO！たまたま・たまごっち) is a manga series writen by Yascorn and published by Shogakukan. The first book released in Japan on the 28th of November, 2005, and the last on the 19th of September, 2009. There were eleven books in total, at 600¥ each (except for the special edition being 400¥).
Full color selections of the manga were available on the Tamagotchi Channel website, and many of the comics can be found in the care guide books for various Tamagotchi Plus devices published by Shogakukan. The special edition volume is a compilation of all full-color comics. Currently, all of the volumes can be bought digitally on the Shogakukan eBook store. An official Chinese translation of the manga is also available.
Yascorn would later create GOGO♪ Tamagotchi!, a successor manga that is based off the Tamagotchi! anime.
Story[]
Because the manga started before any of the Tamagotchi anime of the decade, it did not have a specific canon to follow and thus most of the early stories are derived from the virtual pets. The stories are simple and comedic, generally being 2-4 or occasionally 10 pages long, and focus on the character personalities and interactions more than anything else. Some of their personality traits are exaggerated, like Mametchi being obsessed with math, and Memetchi liking swirls so much that she forces Mametchi and Kuchipatchi to be covered in swirls. As the series progressed, it gained more material to base stories on, such as the movies and animated shorts. The end of the final volume has a comic that is directly adapted from scenes of Tamagotchi: Happiest Story in the Universe!.
