GOTCHIMAN (ゴッチマン Gotchiman) is a TAMAX-TV superhero show directed by TamaPtchi. It stars Gotchiman, Lovelin as Hero Lovelin, and Black Hat.

Premise[]

The stars Gotchiman as the hero of the city. Gotchiman must fight against villains that try to attack the city and terrorize the citizens. Gotchiman himself does not have any superpowers, relying instead on gadgets, his car, and allies like Hero Lovelin and Herotchi to save the day. Black Hat is the main villain and fights back with his hat which can be repurposed into various gadgets that explode. Black Hat often captures Hero Lovelin or Madonnatchi so it's up to Gotchiman (and sometimes Herotchi) to save them.

Tamagotchi![]

The show is regularly seen throughout the anime, usually with Mametchi or others watching the show. It is generally unpopular with Tamagotchis with most of them only watching to see Hero Lovelin when she appears. Only Mametchi and a few others are fans of the show, with Mametchi being the biggest fan and idolizing Gotchiman.

In "Gotchiman! Forever!", TamaPtchi notices the show's rating being at an all time low, only rising when Hero Lovelin is on screen. This causes him to cancel the show and rebrand it into Gotchi Girl to focus on Lovelin. After Gotchiman is seen in public rescuing a bus from falling off a bridge, the show becomes popular again and TamaPtchi brings it back. Despite this, the show is still seen being unpopular in subsequent episodes.

Lovelin brings Telelin with her in "Telelin! To TAMAX-TV" so she can watch her as she works on set for the GOTCHIMAN show. Telelin initially ruins a scene by accidentally messing with the controls for Gotchiman's harness and making him crash into a ceiling. The next scene takes place outside at a spaceship set where Gotchiman must rescue Hero Lovelin from Black Hat. As they fight, Telelin notices the platform the spaceship is on is weak and about to collapse. She yells and stops the filming just in time as the platform finally collapses and though Gotchiman and Telelin get hurt, everyone else is safe.

Makiko unwillingly gets a role as the villain Hell Queen Makiko in "Ohohoho! Aim to Be the Next Princess". She had initially auditioned for a princess role in the show, not knowing that the princess was going to be a villain. In "Happy! Shops at the School Festival / Terrible! The GOTCHIMAN and Hero Show", Mametchi's class create a play based on the show and have Gotchiman make a guest appearance.

Starting in "Hero? Idol? Revealed at TAMAX-TV", Herotchi and Madonnatchi are introduced as new characters. The two want to be the lead roles of the show and often plot to ruin Gotchiman and Lovelin's reputation so they can take their spot. However, these plans usually backfire on them though no one suspects them of sabotage. In "Dream Co-star? Gotchiman vs Detective Anpan" the show crosses over with Thief Papillon in the form of a quiz show. Tomomi makes a guest appearance on the show in "Tomomi's TAMAX-TV Debut!?" as a human that must be rescued from Black Hat.

Mametchi and Kuchipatchi appear in the show as villains in "Nahahaha! Mametchi's GOTCHIMAN Debut". Mametchi is a mad scientist who creates Mecha Kuchipatchi to fight against Gotchiman to help out Black Hat.

GO-GO Tamagotchi![]

The show reappears in "GOTCHIMAN・The・Future" and "GOTCHIMAN The Future 2", featuring new villain and hero characters.

Trivia[]

  • The GOTCHIMAN show is the only prominent TAMAX-TV show to not have a completely in-universe episode in the anime series. Episodes that heavily feature the show only have a few segments taking place within the show's universe, with most of the episode showing the characters behind the scenes.
