Jobs are a feature introduced in Chou Jinsei Enjoi Tamagotchi Plus and utilized in other Tamagotchi devices.
On Virtual Pets[]
Chou Jinsei Enjoi Tamagotchi Plus, Uratama, and Hanerutchi 2[]
In order to get hired, the Tamagotchi character must have a number of certain Skill Points or have a certain job ticket. Two days after entering adulthood, they will graduate from their class and get application for job interviews. There are 5 jobs that depend on the highest Skill Points they currently have, as well as secret one should the character has respective tickets. Each Skill Point related job has a different requirement of minimum Skill Points in order for the Tamagotchi character to get accepted by the job. Certain jobs are also part of the requirements of obtaining a hidden character.
Going to work is simple as going to the item icon and pressing B on the on the Work item and then selecting the item dedicated to the job. The Tamagotchi character will then be seen going away for a while before coming back. After that, its Skill Points dedicated to the job will boost.
Jobs in these toys have a "Star Rank" system: after getting the job, getting 400 Skill Points related to the job will raise the Star Rank by one, and another 400 will raise it by another one, capping at three Stars. Only the Skill Points obtained after getting the job are counted, but even if the Skill Points already maxed out, the Tamagotchi character can still raise their Star Rank by continuing to earn Skill Points that won’t count in.
For example, if a character gets Hot Bath Attendant at 999 Social Skill Points in Entama, they will still start with one Star, but can still raise it to three Stars after actions that can increase 800 Skill Points are done. Contrary to popular belief, one doesn’t need a 3-Star-Rank job to get the hidden character, just 999 Skill Points within 72 hours.
Salary is given through mail every day at the time the job’s obtained. The salary depends on the Star Rank: 1-Star has 1000 GP, 2-Star has 3000 GP, and 3-Star has 5000 GP.
Tamagotchi Connection Version 4 and 4.5[]
In Tamagotchi Connection Version 4 and Version 4.5, the obtaining of jobs is similar, though not exactly the same as the Tamagotchi Plus counterparts. After receiving notes from the "Important Events" section, the Tamagotchi character will be presented with five jobs related to their highest Skill Points – this time in the form of the pictures of buildings rather than words, and unlike the Tamagotchi Plus jobs, there are no ‘tier’ between jobs – all jobs can accept the Tamagotchi if they have generally high Skill Points and are taken good care of. The requirements of certain jobs for hidden characters have also been omitted. Instead, the characters just has to reach a certain number of Skill Points.
In both the V4 and V4.5, the option to go to work has been moved from item icon to the connection icon. In order to go to work, go to the connection icon and then select the option called ‘Work’. After that, the user will play a minigame that is different between each job (though some jobs in different skill categories have identical minigames with only aesthetic changes). Playing these minigames will not directly award Gotchi Points, but the Tamagotchi will get the skill points dedicated to the job based on the owner’s performance, and the times as well as the results of the minigames will influence the salary earned.
Salary is collected at the "Work" option from Nazotchi the first time the Tamagotchi goes to work every day after the day they get the job. It now depends on how many job minigames are played, their outcomes, as well as the amount of respective Skill Points the Tamagotchi has. Since the V4 and V4.5 now have Senior characters retire from their job, it isn’t possible to collect salary anymore once it happens.
Tamagotchi P's[]
Explanation of part-time jobs
Once the Tamagotchi is an adult, they can work a part-time job anytime from 7 AM to 10 AM by going to the park. To get a certain job, some conditions must be met. When the Tamagotchi is sent to work, the user does not have to interact with them or do anything; however, their needs will still drop down at a normal rate. If the hunger or happiness meter goes down to zero the Tamagotchi will automatically come home. Each hour worked earns 250 gotchi points and the Tamagotchi can be called back from work anytime. If 30 hours are worked at one location a unique outfit, accessory, or toy will be awarded. The available jobs and their conditions are:
- Park Security Guard: Visit Flower Bud Park 10 times. Rewards are Police Uniform and Patrol Hat.
- TamaDepa Assistant: Buy at least two items from the Tama Depa. Rewards are the Tama Depa Uniform and Hat.
- Tamamori Assistant: Buy at least two items from the Tamamori Shop. Rewards are a Hanger and Cash Register.
- Cafe Maid: Eat 10 or more foods from the Music Cafe. Rewards are a Maid Outfit and Accessory.
Tamagotchi Smart[]
The Tamagotchi Smart features a location called "Tama Work" where the Tamagotchi can work a part-time job. However, the location is functionally the same as the arcade in previous devices where minigames can be played.
Tamagotchi Pix[]
One of the character rooms to train in
- Main article: Tamagotchi Pix/List of Jobs
The Tamagotchi Pix features a mechanic where the user can train their Tamagotchi to get a career before they leave for Tamagotchi Planet. Once the Tamagotchi is a teen, the character room becomes available to them although it won't do anything until they are an adult. The character room is where the Tamagotchi can play a game to train for a career. How the room looks and what game is available to play is dependent on the Tamagotchi character themselves and what type of actions and how many of it they've done that day. There are nine types of rooms (six which are just slight variations of the three rooms in looks).
Each character has three possible jobs based on food, performing, and creating. In order for the Tamagotchi to obtain a job, they must train enough in a specific room. When the Tamagotchi has enough training for a specific job, they will change into their job outfit once they decide to go back to Tamagotchi Planet. If they don't have enough training for any job by the time they are sent home, the departure sequence will happen without the transformation.
The Tamagotchi must train in one of the types of room at least three times to obtain a job. If they train in different types of rooms, the one that has the most training (that has been visited at least three times) will have its specific job obtained.
