Kind & Polite!! Tamagotchi Video (しんせっ丁寧 親切丁寧!! たまごっち ビデオ な Shin setteinei shinsetsu teinei! ! Tamagotchi bideo) is a short animated film released in 1996. It is centered around the original Tamagotchi virtual pet, with Professor Banzo and Mikachu teaching the viewer the backstory of the characters and gameplay. Each VHS came with stickers, postcards, and a memo pad featuring Banzo and Mikachu.
The video would be followed up by Kind & Polite! Tenshitchi's Official Training in 1997 which focused on the Tamagotchi Angel.
Plot[]
The film is separated into four segments which focus on aspects on the Tamagotchi's gameplay and characters.
Tamagotchi Encounter[]
Professor Banzo and Mikachu recount how the Tamagotchi species came to Earth by playing out the story themselves. One night, Professor Banzo was sulking at a bridge over the Sumida river, upset about his 100th matchmaking session failing. A shooting star then suddenly hits him in the head. Mikachu initially hits Banzo with a poo for this part until he chastises Mikachu for not following the script and the video rewinds to the proper scene.
The shooting star turns out to be small alien creatures in a UFO, the kind that Professor Banzo had been looking for. He creates the Tamagotchi House, a small egg shape device that allows the aliens to be cared for with a simple screen and controls.
Theory of Evolution[]
Professor Banzo and Mikachu go through the process of raising a Tamagotchi from birth to death. The screen of the Tamagotchi is shown as Professor Banzo describes and demonstrates all the gameplay mechanics. This includes what each icon does, character growth, the hunger and happy meters, discipline, and hints toward the secret characters. Throughout the segment, Mikachu reacts to the new info or interjects with a comedic response.
After the two are finished teaching the viewer about raising a Tamagotchi, a commercial plays showing Nyorotchi, Maskutchi, Tarakotchi, and Zuccitchi in distress. The next shot shows them standing in front of the sun with the text "We are alive" at the top. The sun then turns around and reveals itself as Oyajitchi, shocking the Tamagotchi down below.
Tamagotchi Language Course[]
Mikachu greets the viewer and explains to them that the Tamagotchi are going to teach everyone about subjects they are knowledgeable about. First up is Mimitchi who tries to teach the class about number factorization. They choose Zuccitchi to answer a math question, but they are overwhelmed by confusion and attack Mimitchi in response. Next up is Hashizoutchi who does not teach anything due to getting distracted by a butterfly. Last up is Maskutchi who kicks Mikachu out of frame and gives a lecture on how to complain to others. Mikachu then crawls back to them and bashes them with a fan in revenge.
The segment ends with Mikachu encouraging the viewer to listen to the Tamagotchi so they can learn more new things and open up their world. As she and the others wave goodbye, Hashizoutchi reappears to join them to Mikachu's surprise. Another commercial plays afterwards, showing Oyajitchi vandalizing a wanted poster.
97th Egg Branch[]
This segment shows a variety of events happening at the 97th Tamagotchi Precinct, a police office where Mikachu and Professor Banzo are working. Ginjirotchi appears to try to sell something in a suitcase; when Banzo opens up it up, he hits Ginjirotchi as it's a bowl with only one piece of candy inside. The next scene has Banzo chase Oyajitchi out of his chair as Tarakotchi arrives. Tarakotchi's face gets red and they end up covering Banzo in kisses to his embarrassment.
Pochitchi arrives afterwards and as Mikachu gets up from her desk, she tosses her pencil away. Seeing the pencil fly away, Pochitchi runs after it to catch it. After each case, a file is shown of each Tamagotchi describing their personality, wake times, weight, and how to obtain them. After Pochitchi's case, the next couple of files are quickly viewed. The segment ends with Mikachu writing a letter encouraging everyone.
