Color changing foods are available across all versions of the Tamagotchi On (known as the Tamagotchi Meets (たまごっちみーつ Tamagotchi Miitsu) in Japan and the Tamagotchi Ssome (다마고치 썸) in Korea).

Color Change

A tamagotchi can change their color by eating a color changing food 5 times in a row. If a different food is eaten before they eat 5 of the color changing food, the food counter to color change will be set back to 0. The fridge will only store 3 of a food item, so 2 more must be bought once the stored food is eaten. The counter will also not reset if the tamagotchi goes to sleep or if they grow into another life stage. The counter also counts foods that lead to the same color change (Ex: eating 3 stews and 2 cones will still turn the tamagotchi white).

When the color change occurs the tamagotchi's whole body along with their headgear, appendages, and inherited miscellaneous accessories will turn the same color. This change becomes part of their genetics and is permanent until the tamagotchi changes their color through food again or possibly when they grow up. If the change occurs while they are still young some of their body parts may turn into different colors according to their parent's genetics when they grow up. If the color change is done with twins then it will affect both tamagotchis.

The Salon is unlocked by changing the tamagotchi's color twice through food on all versions of the On except the Sanrio, Fantasy, and Sweets version.
