Makiko (まきこ Makiko), whose full name is Madeleine Kyrie d'Otchine[1] (マドレーヌ・キリエ・ドッチーヌ Madorēnu Kirie Dotchīnu) is a special adult character that debuted on the Chou Jinsei Enjoi Tamagotchi Plus in Japan, and later the Tamagotchi Connection Version 4 worldwide.
Name Origin[]
Makiko is a feminine Japanese name. In Makiko's case, it may also be derived from the word makige (まきげ), which means "curly hair", combined with the feminine "ko" suffix.

Appearance[]
Makiko has a light purple body that is similar to Memetchi's, but she has different facial features, hair, and clothing. Makiko wears a purple ribbon with white spots, a frilly white skirt, and magenta stiletto boots. She has two long, curly strands of hair, one on each side of her head, both of which are bigger and longer than Memetchi's signature curl. Her eyes each have one curly eyelash on top, three straight eyelashes on the bottom, and one asterik-like reflection and one oval-shaped reflection. While Memetchi typically does not have colored cheeks, Makiko always has magenta cheeks.
In the anime, Makiko's ribbon lacks the spots, she has dark blue irises, and much like Memetchi (whose limbs are dark orange/brown), her arms and legs are a dark purple color when they were originally the same color as her outline.
Personality[]
Makiko is characterized as being beautiful and vain, especially when it comes to her hair. She despises rain because she believes it will ruin her "perfect" hair, which shows her passion for her hair. She is proud and feminine, and sees herself as more mature than Memetchi. She ends her sentences with desu wa (ですわ) and has a refined laugh that goes "Ohohoho!".
Formerly, having a crush on Mametchi was a notable part of her character, especially in the Acchi Kocchi Tamagotchi Town manga series. However, in the Tamagotchi! anime and onwards, the crush seems to have been abandoned. In the GOGO! Tama Tama Tamagotchi manga series, she had a crush on KuroMametchi instead.
Makiko's mom Majorite spoils Makiko, and this was something Makiko really wanted. This is said to be why Memetchi and Makiko are rivals. She is also shown to compete with Memetchi in terms of popularity and appearance, and they frequently debate over who has the curliest hair. When Memetchi has any faults or problems, Makiko takes the opportunity to point it out. She is sometimes snobby towards others, and even more obsessed with curls than Memetchi, but she still cares for her Tama Friends.

Makiko is seen at Tamagotchi School when Mametchi and Tanpopo go to class. She asks Tanpopo if her haircut is popular on Earth and proceeds to talk about how perfect her curls are before Memetchi calls her out for trying to act superior. The two then compliment each other's curls. Later on, she is seen at Mamemame Laboratory with the rest of Mametchi's class watching over Mametchi and friends' mission in space. When Mametchi and Tanpopo get swallowed up by Blackholetchi she faints from shock and later gets up when Blackholetchi lets them go.
Let's Go! Tamagotchi![]
Makiko is a classmate of Mametchi's. In Let's Go! Tamagotchi, she adores him and is part of the official Mametchi Fan Club.
Her rivalry with Memetchi is depicted as being stronger than her love for Mametchi; in "Team Battle! Mametchi VS Kuromametchi" of Let's Go! Tamagotchi, Ringotchi (another Mametchi Fan Club member) worries about their club's status if they beat Mametchi's team, but Makiko throws the thought aside, focusing on simply beating the other team and looking impressive.
Tamagotchi![]
Makiko is a secondary character that occasionally joins in Mametchi's adventures. She is usually seen hanging out with Memetchi and Flowertchi and throughout the show she is seen bickering with Memetchi over menial things.
In "Say Cheese! A Great Photo Shoot!" she finds a photo studio and convinces Memetchi and Flowertchi to have a photo shoot so they can feel like celebrities. After fighting over who gets to wear the Hero Lovelin costume with Memetchi, they make up and act out the Gotchiman show with Flowertchi. In "Ohohoho! Aim to Be the Next Princess" she enters a TAMAX-TV contest where the winner gets to play a princess in one of of their shows. She makes it to the end against Memetchi and manages to beat her in the last race, with the two congratulating each other for giving it their best. However, it turns out the winner of the contest is supposed to play a villainous princess in GOTCHIMAN and Makiko seems unsure of her new role.

Trivia[]
- In the Tamagotchi! anime series, she shares her voice actress with Cafe Mama and Hoshigirltchi, as well as Nami from One Piece.
- In Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop, she refers to herself as "Madeleine Paulmier".
- In one episode, she refers to Lovelin's ears as hair.
- Makiko is one of the few Tamagotchis whose name does not end with "tchi".
- the d'Otchine in her full name however, can be broken up into de+Otchi+ne. The "de" is often abbreviated to d' in French names, the "Otchi" is from Tamagotchi (And thus, she still has the traditional "tchi" in her name), and the "ne" was added to make her name sound similar to French sounding names like Pauline, Céline, Madeleine, etc.
- In the anime, whenever she takes a step there is a distinct squeaking sound effect.
