Man of the Sea! Captain Goutchi Arrives (海の男！キャプテン号っち来航 Umi no otoko! Kyaputen goucchi raikou) is part 1 of episode 35 of Tamagotchi!
Synopsis[]
Mametchi comes to the sea to see Papamametchi and Captain Gotchi. While looking inside the ship, he accidentally drops the bottle ship Papamametchi cherishes into the sea....
Plot[]
Papamametchi and Mametchi visit the Tama Port where various boat Tamagotchi are resting before they go sailing again. Papamametchi explains that they're here to see his old exploration partner, Captain Goutchi, noting that he is very knowledgeable about the sea and was like an older brother to him. Mametchi runs ahead in excitement, using the bottle ship he is carrying to identify which boat is Captain Goutchi.
Mametchi spots a similar boat and approaches it. The boat yells at him and Mametchi falls back in surprise, saying that he is looking for Captain Goutchi. The boat asks him how he knows that name and Papamametchi comes up to greet him. Captain Goutchi puts together that Mametchi is Papamametchi's son and congratulates him.
Later on, the three are having drinks and Captain Goutchi pokes fun at Papamametchi's inability to swim well. A flashback shows a young Papamametchi begging Captain Goutchi to let him ride with him to sea so he can see the wonders of the world. Captain Goutchi keeps rejecting him until Papamametchi makes a passionate plea, saying his wish is to see a mystical creature that is somewhere out in the sea. Captain Goutchi relents, but warns Papamametchi that the sea is dangerous. After the flashback ends, Papamametchi says that Goutchi had taught him everything to survive as he has no experience with the sea.
Captain Goutchi is happy to see Papamametchi again and Papamametchi explains that it's because he sent a letter inviting him to the port. Papamametchi then asks why Captain Goutchi came to Tama Port and he states that it's because he wanted to invite Papamametchi to sail with him again. He wishes to see the mythical creature Papamametchi had seen during one of his adventures and is sure they can find the creature in the southern sea. Papamametchi is in awe of this and the scene changes to Mametchi struggling to eat a pile of burgers Captain Goutchi has gave him. Mametchi states he is too full and Captain Goutchi says he can climb onboard him to explore if he wants.
As Mametchi excitedly goes onboard, Captain Goutchi reiterates his proposal that Papamametchi come with him to find the mythical creature, saying he can make his dream come true of seeing the wonders of the world. Inside the ship, Mametchi goes inside Papamametchi's old room and sees some photos from his past journeys. He remembers Captain Goutchi's invitation to Papamametchi to sail again and wistfully looks at the rest of the photos. Mametchi then runs outside to return to Papamametchi, but trips on the floor, causing the bottle ship in his backpack to slip out into the sea. He tries to retrieve it with a broom, but only manages to push it further away.
Mametchi jumps off the boat and swims out to get the bottle ship. As Papamametchi is about to respond to Captain Goutchi's request, the two hear other boats calling out that a boy is swimming by himself off to sea. Papamametchi sees what is happening and jumps into the sea to save Mametchi who has begun drowning. However, halfway through, Papamametchi also begin to drown and Captain Goutchi throws a life preserver to him. Papamametchi holds on to the preserver and successfully rescues Mametchi.
Back on the dock, Mametchi apologizes for what he did and Papamametchi says that he's just glad that Mametchi is okay. Captain Goutchi watches over this and realizes that Papamametchi values Mametchi over his dream to see the creature again. He notes that Mametchi is as brave as Papamametchi and commends him on raising his son well. Captain Goutchi then takes his leave and says that Papamametchi can sail with him again after he trains for a little bit. Papamametchi and Mametchi wave to him as he sails off to sea.
