Melody Charm packaging
The Melody Charm toy (メロディチャーム Merodi Chāmu) is a toy replica of the Melody Charm from the original Tamagotchi! anime series. It released exclusively in Japan in January 2011 for 2,835¥.
Appearance[]
The Melody Charm toy resembles the charm from the show. It has two buttons: a large frosted heart shaped one on the front and an oval shaped one on the top right side of the toy. The heart shaped button is used to play sounds and confirm options while the side button activates the menu. The back of the toy contains the battery door which requires 2 AAA batteries. There is also a speaker where the sound comes out and an on/off switch. The Melody Charm comes with a pink strap which allows the user to wear it on their neck like Melodytchi.
Features[]
The menu is activated by pressing the side button. Once pressed, Melodytchi will say the name of the option and the user can scroll through by shaking the toy. Pressing the heart shaped button will select the option.
- Melody Play: After selecting a song, the user can play it on the toy by shaking it when it flashes red and pressing the button when it flashes green. The song will only progress if the user does the right action and Melodytchi will compliment them once the song is fully played.
- Instrument Melody Play: Similar to Melody Play, but the user has the option to play the songs using different sounds such as a piano, trumpet, drum, or dog.
- Freeplay: After selecting a sound, the user can shake or press the Melody Charm to play escalating notes.
- Minigames: Two minigames are available to play. The first game has Melody Charm play sounds that the user must copy by shaking or pressing the charm, similar to Simon's Says. The second minigame has the user shaking the Melody Charm as much as they can in 10 seconds and Melodytchi scoring them.
