Surprise! Tama-April-Fool's Day(ウソッ！？たまプリルフール Uso~tsu! ? Tama purirufūru) is part 1 of episode 25 of Tamagotchi!. It is the final episode of season one.
Synopsis[]
Today is April Fool's, a day when you can play tricks on people. Memetchi decides to fool everyone and say that they're going to transfer to another school. Everyone ends up believing her lie and gets upset, causing Memetchi to struggle to tell the truth before it's too late.
Plot[]
School day ends at Tamagotchi School and Kuromametchi, Makiko, Gozarutchi, Kuchipatchi, Flowertchi, and Mametchi are telling outrageous claims about themselves. The scene then switches to Lovelin on set at TAMAX-TV announcing that it is the last day of her superstar career, shocking viewers. She quickly exclaims "April Fools!" and that she was just kidding. Back at class, everyone laughs at each others' made up lies. Makiko explains that today is April Fool's Day, a day where you can lie to your friends for fun. During her explanation, Mametchi notices Memetchi looking down and encourages her to make a joke to the gang. Memetchi states that her family will be moving away and the gang laughs at her, telling her to be more creative in her joke.
However, Memetchi's expression doesn't change and she further explains that her grandmother lived faraway in a village called Sanatino. She's having trouble living alone so the family has to move in to take care of her. Everyone still believes that Memetchi is joking and Flowertchi says not to tell serious jokes on April Fools, but Memetchi keeps up the act. She replies that it's going to be hard to say goodbye to her friends and thanks them for being good friends before running away in tears, leaving everyone in shock. Outside school, Memetchi laughs at her joke and complements her own flawlessness. She then lies down on the grass and decides to keep the joke going. Back in the classroom, the group is in despair over Memetchi moving away. Kuromametchi and Gozarutchi note that the situation must be hard for Memetchi and Flowertchi speaks up to ask everyone something.
In the late afternoon, Memetchi wakes up, having accidentally fallen asleep. Flowertchi approaches her and tells her to meet at Tama Cafe where they are waiting before running off in tears. Memetchi wonders why Flowertchi is acting strange before heading over. She makes it over to Tama Cafe at night to find that her friend have set up a farewell party. Memetchi is confused at first, but Flowertchi says that her news surprised them and that they understand her grandmother needed her. Remembering the lie she told earlier, Memetchi nervously thinks of what to do as she didn't tell the truth in time. Lovelitchi arrives crying and tells Memetchi that she left work early so she could attend her farewell party. She hugs her and gives her a phone strap, saying that she was the first one to talk to her at Tamagotchi School and that she wants her to have her most valuable charm. Memetchi tries to refuse, but Lovelitchi insists and she is forced to keep it.
The rest of her friends then proceed to give her their most valuable possessions and Memetchi progressively gets flustered with each one. She tries to tell them the truth, but Mametchi interrupts her to play a slideshow of the good memories she made with her friends. Mametchi and Kuchipatchi start crying despite Mametchi saying that they have to smile until the last minute. After the show, everyone is seen sitting at the table looking depressed and not touching the food on the table. Memetchi tries once again to tell the truth, but Flowertchi and Makiko interrupt her to say that she doesn't have to say anything and that they'll write to her all the time.
Mametchi then announces another surprise: a bronze statue of Memetchi that will be placed in front of Tamagotchi School so they won't miss her during class and recess. Everyone then says that they'll be "Tama-Friends forever with her". Memetchi is now distraught with how the situation has gotten way out of hand and imagines her friends becoming angry with her for telling the truth after everything that has happened. Memepapatchi, Mememamatchi, and Imotchi then arrive at the party and while Memetchi is worried that they'll tell the truth, she is relieved that she'll finally have an exit from the situation. However, her family continue her lie and say that they're proud of her for choosing to take care of her grandmother and they'll miss her when she goes.
Memetchi, overwhelmed by everything, falls to the ground in distress. She finally tells the truth and bursts in tears, not wanting to actually move away from her friends. The rest of the gang cry along with her, happy that she's not actually moving and Memetchi apologizes to them through her tears. Her family watches them and Imotchi states that she's impressed by her sister being able to make these kinds of jokes. Mememamatchi notes that she'll talk to her later and Memepapatchi adds that he's glad that Memetchi has good tama-friends.
