Tamagotchi Wiki

I uploaded a new version of the main logo and added transparent borders, rather than the current white borders. If the admin wants, this new one will drop right in.

Protection

This page should really be protected so only administrators can edit it. If someone vandalises this page a newcomer may be offendedand never visit this wiki again.--Toratchi 20:34, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

They might be offended if they visit it and find out they're not allowed to edit it. See Wikia:Help:Main Page. Angela talk 00:35, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
We just need vigilant users, after all that's what the "revert" function is for. And besides, I wanna be able to add links to the front page! @>@ Gryc 21:13, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

[[Template: Tamagotchi]]

Hope you like my template :) If you're going to create Tamagotchi release pages, start them off like this: {{tamagotchi|name=NAME OF TAMAGOTCHI|name2=NAME OF TAMAGOTCHI AGAIN(KEEP THE SAME AS NAME, UNLESS YOU'RE USING ABBRV.)|date=DATE RELEASED}} NO SPACES! This will save a lot of time creating articles. Superjustinbros. 18:25, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

This is an example, using the Jinsei Plus, of the Tamagotchi Release Page Template

{{tamagotchi|name=Tamagotchi Jinsei Plus|name2=the English Tamagotchi V4.5|date=(whenever it was released)}} 202.45.119.133 04:00, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

We should use this. Why are we not using this template! Superjustinbros. 12:16, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikia Gaming footer

I went ahead and added a Wikia Gaming footer to the bottom of the Main Page. We're trying to get Wikia's gaming wikis more linked with each other. It's not mandatory, so you can remove it if you really hate it, but it would be appreciated if you didn't :). You can change the links to point to any other wikia wikis you like or cooperate with. Souvenir #31

I have just discovered Tamagotchi V4 souvenir #31! If you play the gotchi bank game, I played it, and got 210 Gotchi, and instead of giving me 300 Gotchi, like normal, it gave me the trophy! I tried it again, and it did the same thing! Note: I am under 13, so please post this on TamaTalk and Tama-Zone and all those forums, they don't know you can get this souvenir!124.188.26.122 07:41, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Tamagotchi Connection V5

As you may have heard, the Tamagotchi v5 is coming out soon. Haven't heard about it? Just type in "tamagotchi v5" into google and read what it comes up with. anyway, about the v5, we need to start an article on it soon. Just to help us a bit, here is a really interesting website, revealing Bandai's plans about the v5 0_o! Tamagotchi and Earth Expo

Oh, by the way, can someone please reply to this before the new year, so i can see if anyone really uses this website? May sound harsh, but I feel like the only person working on this website.

Yes, I have. In fact, I run a podcast about tamas and have interveiwed Jessica Wells, Marketing Manager of Tamagotchi, and asked about V5. The release date is set in Feb. 2008. Master Tama

Update

This site is rather getting old, meaning the List of Tamagotchi Releases and the List of Tamagotchi Characters have not been updated in a long time. Please consider adding content from Wikipedia. I would also suggest the Tamagotchi page get updated a little too. I would accept any help. Thank you. (Also, it would be nice to get rid of the adds on the right) Superjustinbros. 12:15, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

We should allow only users to create articles. Superjustinbros. 23:26, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Overhaul

Hullo! I've just given your Main Page a bit of an overhaul, similar to the current new Wikia wiki style. Feel free to revert if you don't like it, but it should make it easier to add stuff :) Filling out the links will make your wiki look much more active and should attract new users! Wikia Gaming IRC channel

Hullo! I am Kirkburn, your friendly local Wikia Gaming Helper!

You may be interested to know there is a Wikia gaming IRC channel, #wikia-gaming on chat.freenode.net, where you can hop on, ask for help from users of other gaming wikis, or offer your own experiences. If you are not familiar with IRC clients, you can access it from http://irc.wikia.com/gaming.

Different people may be on sporadically, but we organize weekly chats at a fixed time so we can get the most number of people online at the same time to ask and answer questions, or just to hang out. The admins of some of Wikia's biggest gaming wikis (e.g. WoW, Halo) often attend them. You can find the time for the next chat by following this link.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me! Kirkburn (talk) 11:11, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Help...

I know this is a little bad, but can somebody please help with the coverage of Tamagotchis on Wikipedia? There is a massive to-do list for the WikiProject, and it would be great if anyone who is already on Wikipedia or anyone who would like to join could help. The articles can be stubs, it doesn't matter as long as they exist as they can be expanded in the future. Please help, my username is Wikiert.

Unneccaseary pages

There are many unnecesary pages that could be deleted. We need to make a nominee for deletion page. --Amigop 22:06, December 26, 2009 (UTC)

There's a page called ShiroTeletchi and another page called Shiroteletchi. They both refer to the same tamagotchi. Does anyone know which spelling is correct?

Does anyone remember on the Tamagotchi website a chubby man who stood in the square and  gave you a gift each month or something like that and he babbled or was incomprehensible yet cute... message me if anyone remembers, thx!!!!!! Update

Amazing update +Mametchi+!

BTW I have a better image of the character slider you have posted. Its a HD image of it from the anime. Would you like me to upload it?

Tama-Star Girl (talk) 01:17, September 24, 2013 (UTC)

It kinda looked great with a 50/50 size split between two sections. But I guess bigger is better with this new layout. Plus, the advert was supposed to be on top, now it's inside. ---TacticalMaster (talk) 22:42, September 24, 2013 (UTC)

New logo

We need a new logo.--VideoGameBlogger (talk) 22:06, July 31, 2014 (UTC)

Even if it concerns you, we don't have anyone in our team who knows how to draw without being lazy. ---TacticalMaster (talk) 00:15, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
I could try making something, I have some experience in drawing and digital art. Are there guidelines for how it should look? Do you have size/file type prefrences? ---Bluecake (talk) 00:35, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
You may try Bluecake. But be aware I'm a very picky guy.
For the preferences Just make sure it is Tamagotchi themed. You can add characters to it. But I recommend you should use the official character designs. But try not to make it too flashy. Just simple, or in between. You can handle the text style, but make sure it's the name of the wiki such as "Tamagotchi Wikia." Maybe it should be all caps.
However, the logo has a very limited memory limit and even your art wouldn't fulfill. But do the art anyways. Maybe Himespetchi can do it. I heard she can do the logo import.
PS: I have no idea why we are talking about this situation started by a guy who did not even made a difference to this wiki. (Check his contributions.)
---TacticalMaster (talk) 02:04, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
I wasn't really feeling that it needed to be changed, but I figured I'd make the offer since someone mentioned it. I think it's fine the way it is now. I guess if I get inspired to do something in the future I'll just post about then. ---Bluecake (talk) 02:41, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
Well we may be dealing with an outdated logo, but feel free to suggest once your noodle gets an idea. ---TacticalMaster (talk) 02:50, August 1, 2014 (UTC)

Need a new logo!--NetNavi (talk) 16:11, August 23, 2014 (UTC)

I wish, but we're not very good designers. Wish I could be. ---TacticalMaster (talk) 20:49, August 23, 2014 (UTC)

I've put together a new logo concept. Let me know what you all think. Osumesu21 (talk) 04:37, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

The only thing I like about this new logo is the "Wikia" font. But I didn't liked the dated "TAMAGOTCHI" font, it looks like graffiti. But I did liked the outline you made with the font. But what does it look like when the "Tamagotchi" font is the same as the "Wikia" font? ---TacticalMaster (talk) 05:58, August 24, 2014 (UTC)
I'll mess around with it some more soon, I'll have a new sample soon. Osumesu21 (talk) 06:00, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

I tried experimenting with logo art a while back, I was sort of curious what you thought of it.  http://s12.postimg.org/l94xv9bzg/Test_5_cropped.jpg  (I feel I should mention that the colors are too bright and the lines are blurry in this preview. I think maybe the site did that because it doesn't look that way on computer.) Bluecake (talk) 13:57, December 12, 2014 (UTC)

Uh... That looks too basic to me. ---TacticalMaster (talk) 02:03, December 13, 2014 (UTC)

Out of Date

I'm posting this because I feel that if someone mentions it, somebody else might just given that extra push to edit. The main page is out of date, most notably in how the 4U+ is no longer the most current Tamagotchi model, nor is it still "upcoming". The most current model is the M!X and even that has been succeeded by the recent release of the Tamagotchi Dream M!X.

I notice that there isn't an article for either the Sanrio Characters M!X or the Dream M!X, or whether - like the 20th Anniversary M!X - it will be included in the M!X page. A promotional picture of the Dream M!X can be taken from the official page quite easily and stuck into the slider (whether that will lead to a separate page has to be decided). Along with this, the featured article and media sections should be updated accordingly.

Seeing as the poll is a little more than two years old, it understandably needs to be changed. That should be a reasonably easy task as I doubt topics for a poll would be hard to dream up. I'm guessing that Memetchi has stayed as the featured character for quite some time, as I think she has been up there ever since I browsed this wiki around March. I'm guessing "featured character" is on par with "featured article", but I'm sure a page could be decently spruced up to be placed in this section.

Perhaps if this will take awhile for an admin to get around to, it might be worth considering unlocking the front page to allow other users to edit. As this could pose a risk - although I'm sure most viewers will be able to spot vandalism - it could just be temporarily unprotected.
Grammar Cat (talk) 17:32, August 12, 2017 (UTC)

The wiki has been falling behind as the fandom is declining; I myself am really, really out of touch. Please feel free to help out—actually, the text for the Main Page itself is stored on unprotected subpages: [1]. —umbreon126 22:13, August 13, 2017 (UTC)
Sorry for my late response. I suppose I will indeed help out this Wiki considering I do promote it with esteem on TamaTalk, and with the subpages it should be easy enough. For things that require editorial approval (such as featured pages and the poll) I will discuss with you first before adding it. Chances are most of my information on the newer models will come second-hand - whether through the remarks of others or the unbiased presentation of a video - because I won't be buying all versions. That should be decent, no? --— Grammar Cat (talk) 20:24, September 1, 2017 (UTC)
It's alright with me. I myself used to rely solely on the Tamagotchi website for some pages. —umbreon126 22:52, September 2, 2017 (UTC)
