The Tamagotchi Digital Pocket is a handheld game released exclusively in Japan in 1997. The gameplay features picross puzzles to solve.
Appearance[]
The Tamagotchi Digital Pocket is shaped like a rectangle. It is white and has an LCD screen with a puzzle board and original P1 Tamagotchi's background design. There are four yellow directional buttons on the left and four red buttons on the right. A sticker covers the front of the device and resembles the Light Blue shell of the P1 Tamagotchi. There are various Tamagotchis and vehicles decorating the sticker along with some text describing button function.
Gameplay[]
There are three puzzle sets to choose from upon turning the Digital Pocket on. These include the P1 egg, P2 egg, and an Obaketchi. Once a puzzle is selected, there are two difficulties to choose from. Easy gives 45 minutes to solve the puzzle and hard gives only 25 minutes. One last option to choose is whether to begin play right away or start with a hint. Selecting hint will fill out a vertical and horizontal line on the puzzle, giving the player an idea of how the puzzle should look.
Once the puzzle is started, there will be numbers on the top and side row with numbers. The numbers indicate how many blocks should filled in the respective rows and making a mistake will deduct time. When the puzzle is completed, an animation featuring sprites from the original Tamagotchis will play and more puzzles will be unlocked. Pressing the A button will start the next puzzle.
Pressing the option button will pause the game and give the user options to change the contrast, turn off sound, continue playing, or give up on the puzzle.
