General Overview[]
The Tamagotchi Pix has a section called "Tama List" located under the Notebook icon, in which Non-Player Characters (NPCs) that the user's Tamagotchi encounters are recorded. When selected, it will show their name and how many times that character has been met. Characters met have a chance to randomly visit the user's Tamagotchi when they're in the main living room.
On the Party version, the user can also select or deselect a character as a "favorite", which will display a heart next to their icon and have them be eligible to be randomly selected for a party if the "Random" option is chosen during invitations.
There are a few ways to encounter an NPC:
- Meeting them at the Park
- Visiting places such as the Tama Store, Arcade or Restaurant
- Scanning QR codes
- Using Explore mode
It is possible to meet a total of 101 characters on the Original version, with an extra 11 characters available on the Party version, totaling to 112 characters altogether. Note that while raiseable characters do appear on the Tama List, obtaining them does not count towards meeting them and does not add their log to the book. Instead, they can be encountered using Explore mode or scanning QR codes sent from other Tamagotchi devices.
Explore Mode[]
Upon selecting the "Explore" option under the door icon, the camera screen will activate with the user's Tamagotchi walking into frame. A random character will then arrive on screen—of which depends on the color that was prominently displayed on the camera screen—to either play with the user's Tamagotchi or have a conversation, then the user is able to snap a picture with both Tamagotchis. After around 30 seconds or if the C button is pressed, the character will leave and Explore mode is closed.
Once the user's Tamagotchi returns home, if the character they met hasn't been recorded before, it will be logged in their notebook under the Tama List and their silhouette will be filled out. On the Party version, the user is then prompted to either add them as a favorite contact or not.
