The Torevetchi (とうりべっち) is a licensed Tamagotchi Nano based on the anime and manga series Tokyo Revengers by Ken Wakui.

Background[]

Tokyo Revengers is an anime and manga series by Ken Wakai that began in 2017. The story follows Takemichi Hanagaki who one day learns that his middleschool ex-girlfriend Hinata Tachibana and her brother have been murdered by the Tokyo Manji gang. When he later gets pushed in front of train, Takemichi travels 12 years back to the past where he was still in middleschool. He relives his middleschool days, the period of his life he considers his highest, before meeting with Hinata's brother.

When they shake hands, Takemichi is returned to the present where his actions from the past caused him to become a detective. Using the power of time travel, Takemichi aims to save Hinata and her brother from their death by the Tokyo Manji gang.

Features[]

The user is tasked with caring for Takemichi Hanagaki in the first timeline by feeding him and playing games (Motorcycle Race, Crane Game, & Bowling) to keep him happy. Depending on the kind of care he is given, Takemichi can evolve into other characters from the series, with additional evolutions being available if the user fulfills certain conditions. The user must also fight off gang members that occasionally appear to attack their character. Throughout the day, short animations featuring scenes from the anime will occur.

Birth and Growth[]

After setting the clock, a cutscene will play of Takemichi Hanagaki watching TV and learning of the Tokyo Manji gang's murders of Hinata Tachibana and her brother. After 24 hours, he will evolve into a new character based on care quality, what games were played, and how many perfect results were gained. Some characters can further evolve into new ones if certain conditions are met.

Buttons[]

There are no on-screen icons, and therefore all information is conveyed through the screen and buttons. The character is cared for by filling their meters; they have Hungry and Happy meters, each consisting of four units, which are both empty when they are born. If either becomes empty, the character will call for attention to fill them.

If the character needs something, the user can press the C button for an animation to see what they need. If they look angry, they are hungry; if they sulk, they're unhappy. If their Hungry and Happy meters are not empty but the Happy meter is not full, the character will do a simple happy animation. If the Happy meter is completely full and the Hungry meter is not empty, the character will perform a Close Up instead.

Pressing the A button opens the main menu, with the options to feed food or to play minigames. The meal option (kid's meal) fills one Hungry unit, and the character will refuse to eat anymore once the meter is full. The snack (taiyaki) fills one Happy unit, and can be fed even when the Happy meter is full. The A button is also used to open the lights on and off menu when the character has fallen asleep.

Minigames[]

There are three games available, each influencing what the character will evolve into. Winning a game will raise the Happy meter by 1, while playing a perfect game will raise the Happy meter by 2.

  • Bike Race: The character will be racing their motorcycle and must avoid traffic cones on the road. Pressing A will move the bike up and pressing B will move it down. Avoiding ten traffic cones is a perfect game.
  • Crane Game: The character will be trying to win a teddy bear from a crane game. The user must press the A or B button when the claw arm is directly above the bear in order to grab it.
  • Bowling: The character will be getting to ready throw a bowling ball. The user has 10 seconds to press the A button as much as possible to power up the throw.

Delinquent Invasion[]

Throughout the day at regular intervals, delinquents will appear on screen to attack the character. The user must press the A button to have the character punch the delinquent and make them run away. The delinquent will gradually take over the screen the longer the user takes to respond and failing to respond entirely will cause the character to become depressed.

Daily Events[]

Throughout the day, various characters from the series will appear. Pressing any button will trigger the animation to end, with some showing an additional screen before closing.

Departure[]

The character does not die and will stay as long as the user takes good care of them. If the user fails to fill the Hungry and Happy meters or fails to respond to fight off delinquents that attack, the character will become depressed, portrayed by them lying in a futon with a skull above their head. Pressing the A button multiple times will eventually encourage them to get back up. Repeated instances of the character becoming depressed or failure to encourage them after an extended period of time will result in the character running away and a discarded school jacket appearing on screen.

Pressing the A and C button will replay the cutscene of Takamichi watching TV, restarting the cycle.
