Was It a Ghost? Summoning Courage (でたでたおばけ？肝だめし De tade ta obake? Kimo da meshi) is part 1 of episode 93 of Tamagotchi!.
This episode, along with the second half "Memetchi's Adventure Report: The • World", were later rebroadcast as the fifth episode of the season Tamagotchi! Tamatomo Daishuu GO.
Synopsis[]
Mametchi and Kuchipatchi spend the last days of their summer vacation trying to spook each other. However, a real ghost seems to join in the fun.
Plot[]
Mametchi arrives at Kuchipatchi's house to tell him a fun way they can spend their last days of summer. He whispers the idea to him and Kuchipatchi agrees. At nighttime, the tama-friends plus Chamametchi and her friends are gathered at Kuchipatchi's house. Mametchi tells everyone that in groups, they will take a test of courage and walk through the forest, braving the darkness and spookiness. Everyone picks their groups, with Lovelitchi picking Memetchi, Melodytchi picking Makiko, and Chamametchi picking Imotchi, Kikitchi, and Hapihapitchi. Mametchi then tells them that they must bring back a coin they left in the forest as proof of their courage. A triangle shaped rock marks the location. Everyone is excited except Kikitchi who shivers in fear, though he tries to hide it.
One by one, the groups head into the forest with Kikitchi's group in the lead. Mametchi watches them and springs a trap on them, pulling a rope to drop a mummy right in front of them. As Kikitchi stands still in complete shock, everyone else runs away and screams. Eventually they realize they left Kikitchi behind and come back for him. Imotchi and Chamametchi praise Kikitchi for being brave and not running away, but he is unresponsive. Chamametchi gets him to come to his senses and he finally reacts to the mummy, running away and screaming.
Elsewhere, Lovelitchi and Memetchi walk together feeling slightly spooked by the forest. Telelin starts mentioning the ghosts that must haunt the forest and Lovelitchi quickly shoves her back in her purse. When they come close to Kuchipatchi's hiding spot, he drops a wet rag on Lovelitchi's face, unnerving her. Back at Kikitchi's group, the four find a triangle shaped rock after Kikitchi stops running. Chamametchi thanks Kikitchi for leading them to the coins and he accepts, pretending that he purposely lead them there. As Kikitchi picks up a coin, he notices a blue glow behind the rock. The glow turns out to be a real ghost which chases after the group except Kikitchi who once again freezes in fear.
Chamametchi, Imotchi, and Hapihapitchi pass by Kuchipatchi who's waiting to play a trick on Melodytchi and Makiko. He's pleased that everyone is scared and is about to unleash his trick before getting interrupted by the ghost who taps on him. He falls from the tree in shock, surprising Melodytchi and Makiko. Kuchipatchi tries to tell them that he saw an actual ghost, but they don't believe him thinking he's just trying to scare them. The wet rag from earlier then hits his face and Makiko says he needs to try harder to scare them. However, the ghost then reveals itself to the group and they flee in terror.
The ghost comes after Mametchi who was about to scare Lovelitchi and Memetchi. Mametchi runs and trips in front of the two and they also think he's trying to trick them. When the ghost shows up in front of them, they complement Mametchi on making a convincing ghost, but he runs away in response. Realizing he's not controlling the ghost, the two join Mametchi in fleeing the scene. All the groups eventually run into each other at the triangle shaped rock and they confirm that they saw a ghost. Melodytchi tries to get Kikitchi's attention and he unfreezes and runs away, but stops to tell Melodytchi that he also saw the ghost. Makiko picks up a coin for her group and is confronted by the ghost which proceeds to terrorize everyone by chasing them.
As the ghost flies around, Hapihapitchi notices two Tamagotchis hiding within the ghost. When it's about to close in on Mametchi, Hapihapitchi pulls the cloth off to reveal Dorotchi and Young Dorotchi. They explain that they overheard Mametchi and Kuchipatchi's plan to scare everyone and decided to join in the fun. They apologize for not letting them know first and for giving them a big fright. The group doesn't hold it against them and responds that they actually did help make their courage test a lot scarier. Later on, everyone is seen having a sleepover at Kuchipatchi's house. Kikitchi mumbles about ghosts in his sleep, but smiles when he holds on to the coin he got.
